As Japanese utilities face increased pressure in the wholesale energy markets, Chubu has decided to bring EDF Trading’s commercial and risk management experience to the partnership with Chubu through Chubu Energy Trading. Chubu Energy Trading combines business practices common among European utilities with Chubu’s leading market position in Japan and the Pacific Basin.
Chubu Energy Trading procures approximately half of the 10 million tonnes of coal delivered every year to the Hekinan and Yokkaichi ports on behalf of Chubu Electric Power. Chubu Energy Trading uses EDF Trading’s experience in the coal and freight markets and its successful business model to optimise Chubu’s coal and freight positions, hedge its price exposure, and ensure security of coal supply. In cooperation with the EDF Trading’s coal and freight desks in London, Chubu Energy Trading aims to establish commercial trading arrangements with numerous wholesale counterparties in Japan and in the Asia Pacific region, including utilities, producers, shippers, consumers and trading companies.
To achieve greater operational flexibility and maximum value for its trading and generation portfolio, Chubu Energy Trading performs all scheduling and logistics functions for all deliveries of coal into the Hekinan and Yokkaichi ports.

中電エネルギートレーディングはロンドンEDFトレーディング社の石炭・フレートデスクと協力しつつ、電力会社、石炭生産者、石炭消費者、トレーダーを含む日本、アジア太平洋地域の多くの取引先とビジネスを行うため努力して参ります。
